Traffic curbs on Independence Day

The Chennai Traffic Police have announced traffic diversions, in view of Independence Day celebrations to be held at Fort St. George. These diversions will take effect at 5.30 a.m., and continue till the celebrations are over.

The stretch on Kamarajar Salai from Napier Bridge to RBI Subway North on Rajaji Salai, and Flag Staff Road will be closed for all vehicular traffic, except for vehicles with car passes.

Vehicles on Kamarajar Salai that are proceeding towards Parry’s Corner via Rajaji Salai can go through Swami Sivananda Salai, Anna Salai, Muthusamy Bridge, Muthusamy Road, R.A. Mandram, and North Fort Side (NFS) Road.

Vehicles on Rajaji Salai that are proceeding towards Kamarajar Salai via RBI Subway can go through NFS Road , R.A. Mandram, Muthusamy Road, Muthusamy Bridge, Anna Salai, and Wallajah Road.

Vehicles coming from Muthusamy Bridge / Anna Salai and proceeding towards Parry’s Corner via Flag Staff Road may travel via Muthusamy Bridge, Muthusamy Road, R.A. Mandram, and NFS Road; and vehicles intending to reach Kamarajar Salai via Flag Staff Road may proceed through Anna Salai and Wallajah Road.

Vehicles coming before 8 a.m. with red and purple colour passes should proceed towards Rajaji Salai. The invitees should alight outside the in-gate at the Secretariat. The vehicles should be parked at the allotted parking spaces at the Secretariat premises. Vehicles coming after 8 a.m. with red passes should proceed through Flag Staff Road, and enter Fort St. George through Wallajah Gate, and should park at the designated parking slots.

Vehicles issued with blue passes should proceed through Flag Staff Road and Wallajah Point to enter the premises of the Secretariat, and through the George Gate, and the Secretariat Out Gate towards Rajaji Salai. The vehicles should be parked in the designated slots on the PWD Grounds opposite the Secretariat.

Vehicles issued with pink passes should proceed through Flag Staff Road / Anna Salai, Muthusamy Bridge, Muthusamy Road, Esplanade Road, NSC Bose Road, Parrys Corner, and RBI Subway. The invitees should alight opposite the Out-gate of the Secretariat. The vehicles will be parked at the allotted spaces on the PWD grounds opposite the Secretariat.

Vehicles without passes should enter Island Grounds through an entrance on Anna Salai, near Muthusamy Bridge. The vehicles should be parked inside Island Grounds.

Metropolitan Transport Corporation Buses fetching RSP and NSS students would enter Island Grounds through VIP Gate. The buses should be parked inside Island Grounds at allotted spaces.
