Three held for attack on techie in Chennai

Three people were arrested by the city police in connection with the assault on a 30-year-old software engineer, Lavanya Jangath, when she was riding her two-wheeler, and robbing her jewellery and valuables in Perumbakkam on Tuesday.

Six special teams, with the assistance of cyber and foensic experts, have been searching for the accused involved in the crime.

On Saturday, Pallikaranai Police said it has nabbed three persons — Vinayagamurthy, Narayanamurthy and Lokesh who are in the same age group of 21 years and residents of Tsunami Quarters Semmancheri.

Ms. Lavanya was riding her two-wheeler on the Thalambur-Perumbakkam road to reach her office in Navalur, after finishing her work in Guindy, early Tuesday. She was stopped by a man and was hit on her head with an iron rod. The attacker grabbed her high end mobile phone, and then snatched her gold chain (1.5 sovereigns), besides speeding away on her two wheeler.

Initially the police told that the attack was carried out by a single man.
