Three die in road accident

Three persons were killed and two others, including an 18-month-old girl, injured in a road accident on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway (NH4) on Monday.

The accident occurred around noon when an autorickshaw proceeding from Kancheepuram to Panapakkam on the border of Vellore and Kancheepuram districts collided with another light motor vehicle at the Panapakkam junction on the NH.

Three occupants of the autorickshaw — Vasantha, her daughter, Devi and Vasantha’s brother, Radhakrishnan, from Kancheepuram — died on the spot. The autorickshaw driver, Arul of Orikkai and Devi’s 18-month-old daughter, Srimathi sustained injuries and were admitted at the District Government Headquarters Hospital here.
