After the video of sword-wielding students, travelling aboard an MTC bus, surfaced on social media, the Washermanpet police arrested four students from Presidency College.
On Thursday, a video of a group of sword-wielding students travelling on the two footboards of a MTC bus and shouting slogans praising Maanila Kaloori (Presidency College) and their route surfaced on social media.
The police registered a case and found that the bus route was 57F, plying between Karanodai and Broadway.

During investigation they identified the location as Mint. The police also identified the students and nabbed four of them.
Cases were registered against them under section 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 294 (obscene act and songs) and 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation). They have been remanded in judicial custody for 15 days.

A video showing the four college students and their parents in the Washermanpet police station was released by the police on Friday.
One of the parent chides his son for getting involved in such incidents.
The students are also seen apologising to a senior police officer. “We informed their parents and they came to the station and severely reprimanded their wards. It is with great difficulty they send their children to college, however they fall into bad company and indulge in such acts,” said a police officer.
Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner visited Presidency College on Friday morning and spoke to the students. He narrated how he got into civil services after much struggle and hard work. He advised them to pursue what they are passionate about.
“Use your energy positively,” he told the students.
He said that students should stay away from drugs and protests. “Due to the mistakes of a few students, the entire college is getting a bad name,” he said.
