The news of Rajinikanth’s next film just ahead of Kochadaiiyaan’s release on May 9 pleasantly surprised most fans. Many fans pointed out on social networks that Lingaa is also Rajinikanth’s grandson’s name (son of Dhanush and Aishwarya), and noted that it would prove lucky for the Superstar.

There is speculation that the shooting for the project will start soon in Mysore though there is no official word as yet on it. The entire list of technicians is not yet known though, once again, there is speculation by fans that Rathnavelu would be the director of cinematography. He had previously collaborated with Rajinikanth in Shankar’s Enthiran.

This would be the fourth time Rajinikanth is collaborating with Ravikumar and Rahman on a project, after ‘Muthu’ (1995), ‘Padayappa’ (1999) and ‘Kochadaiiyaan’. Ravikumar has also penned the story and screenplay of Kochadaiiyaan. The producer-cum-director enjoys a reputation of delivering blockbuster hits in the industry.
