Summer camp on astronomy

The Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre will be organising a three-day summer school on astronomy and astrophysics between May 17 and 19 for students studying in classes VII to IX.

The summer school which will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at B.M Birla Planetarium, Periyar Science and Technology Centre will be engaging with topics such as the fundamentals of celestial coordinate systems, cosmology and the evolution of stars among others.

The course will also have practical observational sessions using modern telescopes.

Fifty students will be admitted on a first-come-first-serve basis, a press release said.
