Student commits suicide alleging assault

A 21-year-old youth studying second year in a college here allegedly committed suicide accusing the relatives of his friend of assaulting him in Karur recently.

According to police sources, Rajesh (22) of Tsunami Quarters in Semmancheri was found hanging from the ceiling on Thursday evening.

His mother Kamakshi (50) lodged a complaint with the police. The body was shifted to the Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem.

In a suicide note, Rajesh accused the relatives of a girl in Karur of assaulting him. He had gone there to meet the girl when one of her relatives saw him. Later, he was attacked and threatened to stay away from the girl. Rajesh befriended the girl when she studied in a college on Kamaraj Salai here. The Semmancheri police are investigating.
