Commuters of the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) were surprised to find some of the important railway stations on the stretch filled with workers engaged in cleaning and teams of commercial staff checking tickets during morning rush hours.

Karunamurthy, a resident of East Avenue in Tiruvanmiyur, said while the platforms at the station near his house were normally kept clean, it was a surprise to see the number of officials and staff engaged in the Thursday’s drive.
