Should have let Opposition to pay tribute: Stalin

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam treasurer, M.K. Stalin, on Monday said he had expected the Assebly Speaker to let the Opposition leaders express their views on a condolence resolution for the demise of former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam but such a situation was “avoided”.

Speaking to reporters outside the Assembly, Mr. Stalin said the first day of the session, rather than sticking to the obituary resolutions, became an opportunity for “singing the praises” of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

“As it was an obituary meeting for condolence, we participated patiently in the proceedings,” he said.
