Schools should submit report on sanitation by Sunday

The Education Department has asked all schools in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Cuddalore districts to submit a report on the sanitation work undertaken by them.

The criteria

Amongst the criteria that need to be fulfilled are an inspection of the building structure, provision of safe access, cleaning, disinfection of the school premises, furniture and toilets, all waterbodies and water storage containers should be chlorinated,

Electric connections and switches should be checked, water-logging cleared, fumigation carried out, noon meal centres in schools should be cleaned, sufficient provisions ensured, a release from the department said.

The Chief Educational Officers of Chennai, Kancheepuram, and Tiruvallur districts are instructed to obtain a completion certificate on 11, 12 and 13 December from the headmasters concerned to ensure precautionary measures and a consolidated report should be submitted to the Director of School Education before 12 p.m. on Sunday, the release said.
