PSBB, St. Patrick’s Puducherry ace The Hindu Young World Quiz

Six teams in the junior and senior categories took the stage to fight it out at the 17 edition of The Hindu Young World Quiz in Chennai

If someone were to ask you what was the branch in Zoology which studied birds known as or showed you a picture of a door in a World Heritage Site and asked its name or asked you to name the series which features Princess Morbucks would you know? Well, you would have known the answers to all this and more if you took part in the 17th edition of The Hindu Young World School held in Chennai. With more than 600 students in the Juniors and Senior category taking part, the quiz was a runaway success. The quiz was conducted by veteran Quizmaster V.V. Ramanan.

Juniors

As many as 135 teams in the preliminary round answered 25 questions to make it to the top six for the finals. Two teams from Padma Seshadri Bal Bhavan T. Nagar, St. Patrick’s Puducherry, SBOA School, HLC International and National Public School were the six teams who made it to the finals. All the teams had to go through five rounds which comprised general knowledge questions from various streams as well as visual and multimedia questions. Defending champions Srivats R. and Srivats Gopal stayed on top right throughout as they got 145 points. Coming second was the all-girls team G.S.S.S. Praneetha and Shruthi , Class VI students from St. Patrick’s Puducherry who scored 80 points. S. Amudhu and Vainavi, Class V students from SBOA School came third with 50 points.

Seniors

As many as186 teams from Class VII, VIII, and IX fought hard to make it the finals. The teams that made it were Padma Seshadri Bal Bhavan T Nagar, St. Patrick’s Puducherry, Aditya Vidyashram, The Study Puducherry, Padma Seshadri Millenial School and AMM Matriculation Higher Secondary School. The entire finale which had 24 questions on a grid was also a buzzer round giving the teams a chance to score points or lose point with every correct and wrong answer. M. Ganeshkaran and Tejas Nishad, Class VIII and Class VII students from The Study, Puducherry were the winners, R. Mithuna Krishna and B. Vaishnavi , Class VIII students from St. Patrik’s, Puducherry came second with 105 points and Abhijith G. and Udbhav K. Class VII Students from PSBB Millenium were the second Runners up. The chief guests for the occasion were R. S Priya, Head, Coprorate Marketing Services, Blue Star Ltd. Principal of Anna Adarsh College for Women Dr. Jayashree Ghosh gave away the prizes.
