Protest by MTC crew over assault on colleague

Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) crew staged a demonstration near the Tambaram depot on Wednesday, protesting an assault on their colleague by a passenger.

D. Thiruvenkadam (50), a conductor, was on duty on route number M 52 from Pozhichalur to Hasthinapuram, when he was attacked by a passenger, they said.

The passenger, police sources said, had got into the bus when it was moving and when Thiruvenkadam pulled up the youth, he was reportedly attacked with a knife by the latter. Later, Pallavaram police arrested the passenger, Venkatesan (29) of Pammal.
