More than 1,000 people took part in the signature campaign launched by Lakshmi Nagar Civic Welfare Association in Nanganallur, protesting the arbitrary restriction to just six Liquefied Petroleum Gas cylinders per year per subscriber.
Stating that imposition of an additional Rs. 300 per cylinder was bound to hit all strata of the society without an exception, the office-bearers of the association also pointed out that the increase in the price of diesel by Rs. 5 per litre would only add to problems under which the nation has been reeling.
The signature campaign was launched on September 14 and once they have signatures from 10,000 people, it would be sent as a memorandum to the Prime Minister’s Office, urging the Government to reconsider its decision.
