If there is someone who knows the politics of Vijayakant, it is Panruti S. Ramachandran – his political adviser for years.

Now in the AIADMK, Mr. Ramachandran, a veteran politician and party spokesperson, says, “It is nothing but a political stunt played by Vijayakant to establish his presence in politics.”

“It is not surprising that the desperate Opposition parties coming together at this hour. Except for the BJP, none of the political parties going to New Delhi has any presence in the Lok Sabha,” he points out.

When the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu met the Prime Minister and appraised him of the dams proposed at Mekedatu by Karnataka government, he was not merely representing the ruling AIADMK but the people of Tamil Nadu.

“So what is the point in taking a delegation except playing politics though Vijayakant claims that there is no politics in it.”

AIADMK leaders, meanwhile, are not willing to attach any significance to the political development. “People know that Vijayakant did not even attend the Assembly to defend his MLAs. His focus was more on his son’s first film. Now that the film has flopped, he is returning to politics,” says an AIADMK MP.
