Police receive 14,000 tenant forms so far

The city police have received 14,868 filled-in tenant information forms as of Tuesday out of the 62,137 issued as part of the enumeration drive that began on February 3.

The maximum number of 5,271 forms were received by the West Zone of the Chennai Police, which includes Pulianthope, Anna Nagar and Ambattur. The Ambattur police station limit alone got 3,356 forms.

While the North Zone (Flower Bazaar, Washermenpet and Madhavaram) received 2,542 forms, the South Zone that includes Adyar, T. Nagar and St. Thomas Mount received 5,104 forms. In the East Zone, (Triplicane, Kilpauk and Mylapore) 1,951 forms were submitted. The least number of forms – 66 – were received in the Flower Bazaar station limits.

In light of the seizure of a country-made handgun and bullets from a house rented by an engineering college student in Injambakkam on Wednesday, Joint Commissioner of Police (South) K. P. Shanmuga Rajeswaran requested all house owners to cooperate with police and submit the forms. The form should be filled and submitted to the police stations in the respective jurisdiction. The completed forms would be used to build a database and subjected to police verification if required. The forms are available at all police stations and is also on the Tamil Nadu police website, www.tnpolice.gov.in.
