The family members of two pilots and a navigator, who were on board the Dornier aircraft of the Indian Coast Guard that went missing on June 8, joined defence and security agencies in the search operation on Friday.
According to police sources, ten family members of the missing Coast Guard officers on board the aircraft were taken on a vessel by Coast Guard and Coastal Security Group personnel along the stretch off the Cuddalore coast where the aircraft lost communication.
Dornier CG 791 went missing while it was returning from a regular surveillance sortie more than two weeks ago. The last known location of the aircraft was 16 nautical miles off Chidambaram coast at 9.23 p.m. Confirming that the family members were taken on the search mission on Friday, a senior security official said all possible efforts were on to trace the aircraft.
