Unidentified persons hurled petrol bombs at the house of the district secretary of the BJP’s Scheduled Caste wing in Aynambakkam in the early hours of Thursday.
According to the police, Paramanandam, 49, lives with his wife Vasanthi and two children. Early on Thursday, he heard the sound of window panes breaking. As he went to check, two persons threw bombs at the house and the furniture caught fire.
No one was injured in the incident. By the time residents from the area came to the spot, the miscreants had fled.

Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Sarveshraj visited the spot. The police are checking footage from CCTV cameras in the vicinity. A case has been registered at the Thiruverkadu police station and further investigation is on.
