The narrow intersection of NSK Nagar–Razak Garden and MMDA Main Road in Arumbakkam has become a challenging and dangerous section to navigate, for both pedestrians and motorists. The road near this intersection lacks a median, footpath, reflectors and well-lit street lamps.

Residents of the locality have sought the laying of of speed-breakers with zebra markings as an immediate measure to address the issue of safety, especially for pedestrians. The NSK Nagar intersection provides access to MMDA Main Road, Jawaharlal Nehru Main Road and Poonamallee High Road.

The stretch also serves as the shortest and a less-congested route to reach Poonamallee High Road from Vadapalani bypassing the chaotic CMBT Junction at Koyambedu. Motorists prefer to use MMDA Main Road to reach Poonamallee High Road as the movement of traffic has become slow at CMBT Junction in Koyambedu due to the ongoing flyover work. “Taking the NSK Junction route saves us at least 20 minutes of travel time,” says K. Vimal, a motorist from Choolaimedu. As the intersection is narrow, motorists find it difficult to view vehicles coming in the opposite direction. At night, this becomes the major risk factor for accidents. “Necessary steps will be taken to make the intersection safe,” says a Corporation official.
