Newborn rescued

A newborn girl abandoned in a burial ground was rescued by the Valasaravakkam police on Wednesday night.

A passerby noticed a crying baby abandoned on a concrete platform in Karambakkam and alerted the police control room.

The police reached the spot and rushed the child to the Government Hospital for Women and Children, Egmore. Adequate medical care and food supplements were given to the child.

The Valasaravakkam police are investigating the case.

It may be recalled that a newborn baby abandoned under a stormwater drain in K.K. Nagar two months ago was rescued by a local resident and treated at the Egmore hospital.
