Motorist crushed by lorry in Chennai

A 22-year-old motorist was killed on the spot after being hit by a tanker lorry on the Velachery main road near Guindy, in Chennai on Tuesday.

Selvaraj, a resident of Kannagi Nagar, who was riding his two-wheeler was hit by a heavy vehicle carrying edible oil when he slowed down.

The motorist, despite wearing a helmet, was crushed to death after he came under the rear wheels of the 10-wheeled vehicle.

The police personnel of Guindy traffic investigation came to the spot and sent the body to Royapettah Government Hospital for post-mortem. The driver of the heavy vehicle surrendered at the police station later.

A police official at the spot said the youth was wearing a brand new helmet.
