It is not just the Indian Meteorological Department that provides information about weather in advance for people to plan ahead, but also bloggers and enthusiasts.

Predictions by some of the bloggers are in close tandem with forecasts and bulletins issued by IMD. Both say the pleasant spell will continue with a dip in temperature. According to officials, the upper air cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep area adjoining Kerala coast extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea  level persists.

There is also upper air cyclonic circulation over the south Andaman sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal extending up to 1.5 km above the mean sea level.

Nungambakkam recorded 4.0 mm of rainfall and Meenambakkam, 1 cm.

Social media, especially micro blogging site Twitter, is rife with information on weather conditions. Weather Blogger Pradeep John said the current spell was due to the special behaviour of the upper air circulation, causing morning rains in Chennai.

“We can expect an increase in the quantum of rainfall in Chennai this weekend,” he said. Another blogger expressed hope of receiving good showers on Friday and Saturday “before the real summer kicks in.”
