Many key routes which earlier originated from Mogappair now start from CMBT.

Commuters of Mogappair East seek restoration of the original route of M70 service of Metropolitan Transport Corporation.

Until one year ago, M 70 originated from Mogappair East terminus and went through Thirumangalam, Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT)in Koyambedu, Guindy, Rajiv Gandhi Salai and culminated at Thiruvanmiyur terminus.

Citing poor patronage from Mogappair East, Metropolitan Transport Corporation then modified the route of M70. As per the revised route, CMBT was made the starting point for the route.

So commuters from Mogappair East have to board two buses to reach CMBT.

Commuters also pointed out that route number D70 (from Ambattur Industrial Estate to Velachery via Mogappair East terminus) and route number: 141 C (from Elango Nagar to Thiruvanmiyur via Rail Nagar near Thirumangalam) now skip Mogappair.

“There is no direct MTC service to CMBT from Mogappair East. We board a bus from Mogappair East terminus and alight at Thirumangalam and from there we take another bus to reach CMBT,” says V. Ramani, a resident of Mogappair East. Commuters contend that MTC is a service meant for the people and should not focus only on revenue generation.
