Matha Samarpanam Trust celebrates anniversary

Dignitaries seen during the anniversary function of Matha Samarpanam Trust.

The 14th Annual Day celebrations of Sri Matha Samarpanam Trust was celebrated on August 4 at Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium, Mylapore. Musician R. Vedavalli was the chief guest for the function. Jeyaraj Krishnan and Jayshree Jeyaraj Krishnan, veena artists, were the special guests. Violinist Embar Kannan and mridangam exponent Umayalpuram V. Kalyanaraman were the other dignitaries present on the occasion.

The programme started with children of Vedha Manthram, Adyar, reciting slokas. The students of Matha Samarpanam Trust presented thematic songs and slokas.

R. Vedavalli appreciated the efforts of founder-trustee of the Trust, Nalini, to shape these children in the field of music and slokas.

Rupa and Sudharshan, students of Embar Kannan, presented a concert on violin and they were accompanied by Gohidayan, student of Umaiyalpuram Kalyanaraman, on mridangam.

Jeyraaj Krishnan and Jayshree Jeyraaj said that Nalini follows the tradition of guru-sishya learning and the importance of sathsangh.

Earlier, the organisation conducted sloka, Gita, Visnu Sanhasranamam, vocal music and instrument contests. As many as 400 children from 25 city schools participated in these competitions. All the winners (105 of them) were given certificates and prizes.

This is the second year that P.S. Senior Secondary School, Mylapore, won the rolling shield with the maximum number of winners.
