Police are on the verge of arresting a man who allegedly tortured his wife and his nine-year -old daughter for years.
A police team attached to St. Thomas Mount has rushed to Telangana to secure the accused, said police sources from Tambaram.
In a complaint sent to Tambaram All Women Police Station, Priyanka, who married Rameswar Rao, a techie from Telangana in 2004, alleged that her husband had tortured her and their daughter ever since the girl child was born.

After the girl’s birth the husband was furious and began abusing her.

He also locked her in a room without food for days. After attempts to reconcile them, the couple moved to Perungalathur near Tambaram, three years ago.
Police sources said Priyanka was restrained from venturing out of the house, barred from interacting with neighbours and was not allowed access to the phone.
Their daughter was locked up in the toilet even as her younger brother was properly taken care of and sent to school.
Priyanka said she even sent away her family when they came looking for her, fearing that their presence would aggravate the situation for her daughter and herself.
Unable to withstand the torture any more, she called the All Women Police in Tambaram and they rescued her and her daughter from the house they had been locked in.
Rameswar Rao was not at home, police sources said. The victim was referred to a women’s hostel, but preferred to stay with her relative in Tambaram.
A senior police official said the police team is likely to return on Thursday with the accused.
