With traffic coming to a halt on Race Course Road — through which all buses from Saidapet that are headed towards Tambaram and Poonamallee travel — vehicle movement was affected on Sardar Patel Road.

By the time the traffic policemen reached the spot, vehicles piled up on GST Road, Velachery Main Road and Sardar Patel Road.

With the Race Course Road branching off from the Guindy flyover, being very narrow and only one-way traffic allowed on it, the traffic police found it difficult to remove the bus from the accident spot.
