A man riding pillion was killed when the two-wheeler was hit by a van near Mudichur on Thursday night.
Police sources said the victim, Manoj (21), an electrician from Chitlapakkam, and his friend Raja (37) were returning home after attending a function in Kancheepuram. When the two-wheeler was nearing Madhanapuram in Mudichur, it was knocked down by a van.
Manoj suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot, while Raja was admitted to a private hospital nearby.

The Chromepet traffic investigation wing police registered a case and arrested van driver Balasubramani (35) of Saligramam.
