Commuters boarding MTC buses at the Chromepet bus stop (towards Tambaram) have requested the Chennai Traffic Police and MTC officials to put an end to the unauthorised entry of private vehicles inside bus bays.

Motorists coming from MIT flyover service lane and Grand Southern Trunk (GST) Road enter the bus bays to reach Chromepet railway station. As per the traffic arrangement, they must get past the traffic signal opposite Government Hospital of Thoracic Medicine, Tambaram Sanatorium. They can also go via the intersection of Chambers Colony Main Road, Vaishnav College level-crossing and GST Road. However, to avoid having to take a detour, a few motorists enter the bus bays and this poses a threat to the safety of commuters.

Besides, autorickshaw- and shareautorickshaw drivers wait at the entrance of the bus stop to woo commuters. As a result, MTC bus drivers are unable to enter the bus bays. A few drivers halt their buses near the foot overbridge of Chromepet railway station and commuters have to break into a run to board these buses. A Chennai Traffic Police personnel has promised to do the needful.
