‘Mudhal Idam' is AVM's 175th film

It will have a team of debutants and a modest budget

In a break with tradition, AVM Productions, after rolling out a series of big-budget films such as ‘Sivaji' and ‘Ayan,' is producing its 175th film with a team of debutants and on a modest budget.

“Quite a number of low-budget films are doing quite well these days and we decided to go by the trend,” says M. Saravanan of AVM Productions.

The film ‘Mudhal Idam' is the maiden directorial venture for R.Kumaran, who has worked as an assistant under directors Sundar C., Bhoopathi Pandiyan and Swaraj.

Actor Vidarth will pair up with Kavitha Nair, who makes a debut in this film.

Being India's oldest film production company, AVM Productions made its 174th film in Telugu (‘Leader') and after the release of ‘Mudhal Idam' plans two major film ventures.

“We are introducing a lot of new talents through ‘Mudhal Idam'. The script was so impressive that we decided to make it our 175th production. The director has scripted the film with a right mix of poignancy and action with liberal doses of comedy,” Mr.Saravanan said. Noting that the trend of Tamil cinema is oriented towards breezy, humorous films, he said the film is backed with a strong storyline and promising cast.

The shooting, which began on Thursday at Thanjavur, would be completed in two months, said Mr.Kumaran. “It is a great opportunity to work with such a prestigious banner in my debut film. The film will be a mass entertainer with a touch of realism,” he said.

Iman has composed five songs for the film. The film is likely to be released in May.
