A lorry transporting a huge consignment of mud got trapped under the road overbridge in Pallavaram in the early hours of Friday.
Traffic police said the lorry was on its way to Tambaram from Pallavaram, when the rear portion, carrying the mud, rose suddenly due to a fault in the hydraulic mechanism that lifts the portion while dumping construction material.
The lorry got trapped under the road overbridge connecting Grand Southern Trunk Road and Pallavaram – Thoraipakkam Radial Road. However, no one was hurt in the incident.

The impact of the accident saw the front portion of the lorry hanging in mid-air. Another heavy vehicle towed the lorry away from the spot.
As the incident took place around 5 a.m., traffic flow was not affected.
