The notification for local body elections is likely to be issued after the Madras High Court gives its judgment in a Tiruchi Corporation case.
This was one among the decisions taken at a meeting of election officers involved in the local body polls here on Tuesday.
According to an official release, the meeting presided over by S. Ayyar, State Election Commissioner, discussed a number of issues concerning the polls including appointment of co-ordinators, requisite financial resources, training of election officials, distribution of electoral rolls to recognised political parties and filling vacancies of local body officials.

Besides, the issue of communicating the voting and counting details, distribution of SIM cards to the presiding officers of booths and zonal officers for instant communication, videographing of voting in sensitive booths, engaging videographers to accompany zonal officers, preparation of booth slips to be issued by election officials, publicising electoral rolls, recording counting through video camera in all the counting centres and employing data operators to record and update election results using computers were also discussed.
Those who took part in the meeting include V.M. Xavier Chriso Nayagam, secretary of the State Election Commission, S. Vijayakumar, Commissioner, Rural Development and Local Administration, Chandrakant Kamble, Commissioner, Municipal Administration, M. Chandrasekaran, Commissioner, Town Panchayats and D.Karthikeyan, Commissioner, Chennai Corporation.
