The body of Chennai girl >Georgina Thomson who died on campus at the University of Liverpool, where she was a student, is likely to be flown to Chennai next weekend.
She had allegedly committed suicide by hanging inside the students’ residence on July 12. She was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering with pilot studies.
England’s Merseyside Police, on Wednesday, began an investigation into the death of Georgina, after her father S. Thomson, inspector with the J.J. Nagar police here, approached the Liverpool Coroner on July 19 alleging foul play behind her death.

“I have decided to bring Georgina’s body to Chennai and am now running around to complete the paperwork for the transportation. I hope all the procedures will be completed soon so the body can reach Chennai by air cargo on August 3 or 4,” said Mr. Thomson on Friday evening from Liverpool.
He said the Merseyside Police had begun a probe into Georgina’s death. “I’m still not convinced with the evidence shown to me and have decided to take Georgina’s body home in the hope that there will be a fair probe,” said Mr. Thomson.
Georgina joined Liverpool University aspiring to become an astronaut. Earlier, she had visited Nasa after being selected as part of a student programme, the city police said.
