Kidnapped engg. student escapes

A student of engineering, who was allegedly kidnapped a week ago, escaped from his captors on Tuesday.

A press note said Mushtaq Rashiq, an M. Tech student and a resident of Semmanchery, lodged a complaint at Tambaram police station on Tuesday, stating that while having lunch with a couple of friends at a restaurant in Tambaram on July 10, he was kidnapped by Mahesh, an acquiantance, and three others. He was forcibly taken away in his car along with his laptop and ATM cards Mushtaq was taken to hotels in Anna Nagar, Purasawalkam and also on East Coast Road. He was allegedly beaten and his captors demanded a ransom of Rs. 25 lakh.

Mushtaq’s friends were arrested and a search is on for Mahesh and his accomplices.
