Kamal claims Chennai schoolboy died of dengue

Actor Kamal Haasan sent social media into a frenzy on Sunday after tweeting that a student of DAV School in Gopalapuram had died of dengue, and urging the AIADMK government to step down.

The actor, in his tweet, claimed that his pleas on dengue fell on deaf ears. He said that a student named Bharghav had succumbed to the disease.

The actor also requested parents to be vigilant and question the government for inaction.

A few days ago, Mr. Haasan, on his Twitter page, had urged the State government to take steps to control dengue menace.

Several Ministers had responded, claiming that the government was taking all efforts. Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar claimed that dengue was on the decline in the State,

The previous tweet of Mr. Haasan said, “A high school dropout may not perceive Neet problem. But Dengu i know My child almost died of it. Work on it TN Govt. If unable move aside.” When contacted, a senior official of the Chennai Corporation Health Department said the dengue death was yet to be reported by the hospital to the civic body.

“We will take action. Teams of public health workers will check tomorrow,” the official said.
