Job racket; one held

The Teynampet police on Wednesday arrested a 58-year-old person for cheating a job aspirant.

According to police, Pichandi (28) of Injambakkam was working as a temporary staff in the DMS campus, where the Annamalai (58) befriended him. Claiming that he had close connections with higher-ups in the premises, Annamalai promised a government job to Pitchandi if he paid ₹3.54 lakh last January. Soon after taking the money, Annamalai went missing from the campus. Based on a complaint given by Pichandi, the Teynampet police arrested Annamalai and remanded him in custody.
