Israeli film festival opens

The Israeli film festival was inaugurated in the city on Monday.

Organised by the Consulate General of the State of Israel and the Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation, the festival would screen five movies on diverse genres, over three days.

Speaking at the inaugural, Yael Hashavit, Consul General to South India, Consulate General of Israel said a majority of Israeli films reflected a diverse society. “We have a young film history but it is an extremely professional one which has been successful in making an impact. We are hoping that through the festival, movie buffs here get an opportunity to see how everyday life in Israel is like and also get a taste of the society and culture there,” she said. Israeli films and TV shows were gaining recognition world over and that many American studios had been showing interest in TV shows, she said. Afula Express, an award winning romantic comedy which traced the life of a garage electrician who had dreams of becoming a magician was screened.
