Injured girl’s family appeals for financial aid

The family of 10-year-old >Subharakshitha , who sustained injuries after >a car hit her when she was sleeping on a footpath in Egmore on May 23, has appealed to the State government for financial assistance.

Subharakshitha sustained injuries on the head, shoulder and hands and was treated at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (GH).

Her father Kumar said that on May 28, they shifted her to a private hospital in Anna Nagar because they were unhappy with the treatment at GH. “She underwent a surgery for a fracture on her right hand and shoulder on Saturday. She is better now. The hospital said she has to undergo another surgery and the entire cost of the treatment will be at least Rs. 5 lakh,” he said.

Kumar, who is an autorickshaw driver, has already paid around Rs. 65,000 for the treatment.

“I have no money left now. It will be of great help if the government and philanthropists help us fund my daughter’s treatment,” he said.
