Rajan Eye Care Hospital launched ‘Nethravahana’, a mobile eye clinic for the poor, as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations in the city on Friday.
N. Gopalswami, former Chief Election Commissioner of India, inaugurated the mobile eye clinic. Mr. Gopalswami appreciated the hospital and the management for not only keeping abreast of technology, but also taking the technology to the people.
The mobile eye clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art ophthalmology facilities for diagnosis, investigation and treatment of patients in rural areas. The mobile eye clinic has some of the latest technology like Fundus camera, Retina laser and a computerised tele-ophthalmic unit.

Rajan Eye Care operates the rural outreach project through the Chennai Vision Charitable Trust (CVCT).
Mohan Rajan, Chairman and Medical Director, Rajan Eye Care Hospital, said the trust had conducted 2,800 eye screening camps where more than 10 lakh patients were screened and 1.10 lakh cataract surgeries had been performed. Mrs. Y.G. Parthasarathy, Dean and Director, PSBB Group of Schools, and Rajvardhan Azad, Former Chief and Head, Vitreoretinal Diseases, AIIMS, participated.
It is equipped with state-of-the-art ophthalmology facilities for diagnosis and treatment
