Highways Research Station (HRS) will soon sign a Memoranda of Understanding with various institutions to take forward its research in areas including the use of eco-friendly material in road construction. “Talks are on with different departments of IIT- Madras and Anna University,” said Rajeev Ranjan, secretary, Highways and Minor Ports Department, here recently.
Speaking after an MoU signing ceremony with the Central Roads Research Institute (CRRI), New Delhi, he said the 57-year-old HRS will soon get a training centre. Under the MoU, joint research and development projects will be taken up on topics including improvement of road shoulders, accident data analysis and health monitoring system for bridges.
The MoU was signed between HRS Director G. Sivakumar and CRRI Director S. Gangopadhyay in the presence of Mr. Ranjan.
