Heroin concealed in bangle boxes seized

Officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau on Thursday arrested Kenneth Stanly alias Ken (31), a South African national, on charges of drug trafficking.

Heroin weighin 400 grams, which the suspect attempted to export, was seized.

According to an official release, Stanly, who came to India in 2004 for pursuing higher education, indulged in drug trafficking along with his associates from Congo and Nigeria. His modus operandi was to source drugs from North India and export them to his clients in Netherlands, South Africa, Spain, Brussels, Australia, China and Canada.

On 23 January, 2014, he booked consignments to four countries which the NCB sleuths intercepted and three packets booked through different courier offices across Chennai. Stanly would pack bangles in wooden boxes and conceal the contraband in them.

Following a tip-off, a special team arrested the suspect under the provisions of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, the release added.
