‘Healthcare has shifted to industrial houses’

Justice V. Ramasubramanian, Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, on Saturday said the medical profession had undergone enormous changes in the last few decades, with healthcare, like education, shifting hands from charitable institutions to industrial houses.

Delivering the convocation address at the 31st convocation of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, he appealed to the graduands to keep the fire of inquisitiveness and righteousness always burning in their hearts. A total of 4,745 graduands received their degrees in person, while 18,184 received it in absentia.

Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit presided over the convocation and distributed the degrees in the presence of Minister for Health and Family Welfare C. Vijayabaskar. Sudha Seshayyan, Vice-Chancellor of the university, presented the annual report. As many as 204 medals and prizes were awarded at the convocation.
