The Madras High Court on Friday directed authorities to file a counter on the filling up of 15 seats in the School of Architecture and Planning, Anna University.
Passing further orders on a sub-application in a contempt petition, Justice V. Ramasubramanian said the authorities had admitted eight persons under the quota for Consortium of Industries, four under the NRI category, two under the category of citizens of Indian origin working in gulf countries and one under the Foreign National category.
Since the filling up of the 15 out of 80 seats under these categories under several sub-headings went contrary to principles laid down by the High Court earlier, the authorities should file the counter on October 1.

On Thursday, Justice Ramasubramanian had said the university’s action in filling up 20 seats (including three for founder’s quota and two for other State candidates), out of the total 80 seats permitted by virtue of a conditional order of the court, other than through single window counselling showed a conduct which should be despised.
In the meantime, he said since the cut-off date for admission expires on September 30 and also as September 29 and 30 are holidays, he was directing the authorities to prepare a list of candidates who would have otherwise been admitted if the 20 seats had not been filled up.
The list may be kept as ‘provisionally selected for admission’ before the cut-off date. The list should be produced before the court on the next hearing date for appropriate orders.

The candidates would be informed of their provisional admission only after the court’s further orders.
