Four persons electrocuted

Four persons, including a man and his son, were electrocuted in different incidents in the city on Wednesday.

According to the Ennore police, early on Wednesday, advertising board makers Pichaikani (66) and his son Mohammed Meeran (26) from Kamaraj Nagar 6{+t}{+h}Street in Ennore were putting up a board on Kathivakkam High Road near Murugan Koil junction.

“The father and son climbed atop a building and were tying on the board when its iron beddings came in contact with an overhead livewire. They suffered an electric shock and were thrown away. The two died on the spot,” said investigating officer John Sundar of the Ennore police.

In another incident, a youngster who climbed atop a water tank on his terrace to check the water level died after suffering an electric shock.

The accident took place around 12.30 p.m. when Moideen Ahmed (23), a resident of GNT Road in Moolakadai, came in contact with a high-tension electric wire passing over the tank, the Kodungaiyur police said.

Around noon, Kanniammal (29), a resident of Kamarajar Street in New Anna Nagar, suffered an electric shock when she stepped in a puddle of water in front of an electric shop, the police said.
