A day after the news that Malaysian Airline plane MH 370 had crashed into the southern Indian Ocean, the family of passenger Chandrika Sharma is trying to come to terms with this news. Her husband K.S. Narendran is making plans to travel to meet his daughter Meghna who is in Delhi, from Sambareili where his mother-in-law lives, according to friends.
Speaking to The Hindu over the phone on Monday night, he said he wanted to be left alone at this point and wanted to sort out family matters. The flight carrying 239 persons went missing on March 8.
Ms. Sharma, who was the executive secretary of the International Collective in Support of Fish Workers, was heading to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, to attend a regional conference for Asia and the Pacific hosted by Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations.

Her colleague N. Venugopal said the family will take a decision after Mr. Narendran meets his daughter. “He is a person of tremendous strength. It is a pity that the search had been called off since nothing was found. This is science at its worst and humans at their worst,” he said.
"For me personally, there is a void and it has been a harrowing time. “I only hope that she didn’t have much pain, after hours of harrowing travel,” he said.
