Enrolment drive for UID

Central Bank of India launched an enrolment drive in the city recently for the Aadhaar project of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

The process involves capturing of finger prints, iris scan, photograph and other details. Once enrolled, an acknowledgment would be generated and handed over to the resident.

The enrolled data would be then sent to the central database of UIDAI, where the 12 digit UID number would be generated and sent directly to the resident, a press release said.

The enrolment drive is on at the Anna Nagar and Velachery branches of the bank through Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Limited. The bank would extend this service to other branches in a phased manner, the release said.

The bank's Executive Director Vijalakshmi R. Iyer and General Manager S. Kannan participated.
