Eight-year-old boy electrocuted at children’s park in Thiruvallur

An eight-year-old boy playing inside a newly inaugurated municipal park for children died on the spot after suffering an electric shock when he stepped on a livewire connecting a light.

Tiruvallur Town police identified the deceased as Adithya Anbuchelvan, a resident of Kungathur area in Tiruvallur.

The boy was playing in the park in Lakshmipuram at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday when he stepped on an electricity wire left unsealed on the ground. The park was inaugurated last week by a State minister in a gala event.

Boy suffers shock

In Tiruvottiyur, a five-year-old boy who attempted to retrieve a ball stuck near a transformer suffered a shock on Monday evening.

S. Sarvesh of Periyamettupalayam 1{+s}{+t}Street in Tiruvottiyur was admitted to the Government Children’s hospital in Egmore.

According to police sources, his condition remains critical.
