Driver held for sexually assaulting Minjur schoolgirl

Parents learnt about it when the girl complained of stomach pain

A 30-year-old school van driver was booked on Wednesday under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, for sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl in school.

The girl, a resident of Minjur, was an LKG student at a private school in the locality, and travelled every day by a van.

On Tuesday, she returned home and complained of a stomach ache.

Suspecting sexual assault, her parents approached the school management.

Pal Pandi, 30, of Tirunelveli, a driver who had been working in the school for the past few months, was the suspect.

The parents lodged a complaint.

Pal Pandi was arrested under the POCSO Act.

The police are investigating the case. .
