Docs seek more transparency

The All India Foreign Medical Graduates Association has sought more transparency in the conduct of eligibility test for Medical Council of India registration.

According to a press release, since 2002, over 10,000 candidates have not taken the test, which is conducted only in Delhi. “The test should be administered online too, so that candidates do not have to travel all the way to the Capital,” a member of the Association said.

The Association also wants the Tamil Nadu government to permit foreign graduates to work in village PHCs under a professor. This will help overcome the shortage of doctors in rural areas too, another member said.
