Disproportionate wealth case against Parithi Ilamvazhuthi

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on Thursday conducted simultaneous raids on the premises of former DMK Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuti after registering a disproportionate wealth case against him, sources in the agency said.

On specific information that Mr. Ilamvazhuthi, who was the Minister for Information and Publicity in the previous Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam regime, had accumulated assets in his name and also in the name of his family members, the DVAC conducted a discreet enquiry. Investigations revealed that he had accumulated movable/immovable assets to the tune of Rs. 1.56 crore during 01.06.2006 to 31.03.2010.

After registering a case against Mr.Ilamvazhuthi under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, the agency conducted raids on his premises at Palavakkam here. Searches were also conducted in the house of his family members at four places in Chennai, the sources added.
