Over the next few days, students from city schools and colleges will treat themselves to interesting performances and lectures by eminent artistes engaged in different forms of music, dance and theatre from across India at ‘Svanubhava’, a cultural festival that will begin on Wednesday.
The festival, to be held at Kalakshetra, will feature programmes ranging from a traditional carnatic music concert, to dances of Manipur to lesser known variants of Kathakali to lectures-cum-demonstrations.
Organising committee member Vikram Raghavan said, “This year students from 30 schools and several city colleges will participate in the festival. The idea is to expose ourselves to different forms of art, have discussions and try and appreciate them.” With carnatic musician T.M. Krishna guiding the team organising the event, they are all set for the three-day carnival.

Students will participate in different capacities – as those pursuing the arts, as writers, documentarians and reporters. Students from many institutions, including Anna University, IIT-Madras, M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women and Asian College of Journalism have been roped in.
While the event is targeted at a primary student-audience, the programmes are open to the public as well.
