Crowds continue to throng KMC for medical forms

Many applicants said they had not been able to download the forms

Despite an announcement by the government that forms for medical/dental courses could be downloaded, a large number of people gathered outside Kilpauk Medical College for the third successive day on Saturday to get them. Many said they were unable to access the websites.

Sowmya, who came from Aynavaram with her sister Kalai, said they had found it difficult to download the form. Kalai has scored 934 marks and is confident of getting a seat in government medical college.

Prabhavathi, 65, had made the trip from Ambur, and bought two forms.

“These are for my granddaughters. I came to Chennai yesterday and stayed with a relative,” she added.

Most people who came to buy the forms did not know that they had to write a request. Employees of KMC doubled up as agents and sold white sheets and offered to get the copies of community certificates attested, for a fee.

Candidates came from around the city including areas such as Pallavaram and Washermanpet. Others such as Ravi, a farm labourer, came from as far as Ariyalur to get a form for a nursing course for his daughter

The Directorate of Medical Education began issuing application forms on Thursday. A total of 40,000 forms have been printed.

Until Saturday, over 20,000 forms had been sold through the 18 medical colleges and the only government dental college. Application forms and the prospectus can be downloaded from >tnhealth.org .
